Where to Stay in Banff
Personally, I think the best places to stay are in Downtown Banff specifically because it will allow you the freedom to easily explore the town on any given day. However, staying in town can be a bit more costly than staying a few miles down the road. On our trip to Banff, we stayed at the Juniper Hotel. This offered a beautiful, elevated view over Banff for a slight savings in cost as it was a 5-minute drive outside of the downtown area. Here are some options for accommodations.

This is a must do option if your budget allows. These four-legged, energy-filled pups are READY to mush. There is no denying their drive and excitement to pull the sled. Perfect for couples, families, or solo travelers, dog sledding is a must-try experience that lets you connect with nature and some incredible dogs. We used Kingmik Dogsled Tours.

Visit Cave & Basin National Historic Site
This is the birthplace of Canada’s national parks system. The thermal mineral springs were discovered in 1883 and this led to the creation of Banff National Park, the first national park in Canada.

Lake Minnewanka
This scenic drive winds through towering peaks, frozen forests, and wide-open valleys. There is no shortage of stunning photo opportunities along the way. Once you arrive, the lake’s thick ice allows for exploration surrounded by mountains, basically creating the postcard-perfect winter scene.
